B-Sens blast Admirals out of the water

Posted:
Norfolk, VA – Scott Greenham stopped 46 of 47 shots faced to snap Binghamton ’s four-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Norfolk Admirals. The B-Sens stifled all eight Admirals’ power-play chances while Cole Schneider chipped in two primary assists to lead the team offensively.

The B-Sens grabbed the 1-0 lead just past the seven minute mark of the opening period after Patrick Mullen snapped a centering feed from Schneider past the Admirals Jason LaBarbera for his fifth tally of the year. Norfolk evened the score at 1-1 after Colby Robak scored his first goal of the year with less than six minutes to play in the period. Greenham stopped 17 of 18 Admirals’ shots in the opening 20 minutes of play to send the teams to the first break tied at a goal apiece.

Binghamton grabbed the lead once again just seconds into a power-play opportunity when Ryan Dzingel took another useful pass from Schneider and planted it high over LaBarbera’s glove for his 14th goal of his rookie campaign. The B-Sens took the 2-1 advantage into the final intermission break outshooting their hosts 15-11 in the period.

Despite being outshot 18-8 over the final 20 minutes of play, Max McCormick pushed Binghamton’s lead to 3-1 14:29 into the final period before Danny Hobbs converted on an empty-net opportunity to move the final score to 4-1.

Binghamton finishes their road portion of the eight-game season series with the Admrials on Friday in a 7:30p.m. faceoff before returning home Sunday, March 8, for a 3:05p.m. matchup with the Syracuse Crunch.
