BINGHAMTON, NY – Philipp Grubauer stopped 28 of 29 shots faced as the Hersey Bears defeated the Binghamton Senators 5-1. Casey Wellman recorded a three point evening that included two goals to lead the Bears to their fourth victory in six meetings against the Senators this season.

Wellman opened the scoring 8:24 into the first period after he buried a feed from Jim O’Brien past Binghamton’s Scott Greenham for his 18th of the year. Chris Brown doubled the Bears lead with less than eight minutes to play in the period after he managed to swipe home his own rebound for his 14th of the season to give the visitors a 2-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.

Hershey added a pair in the middle frame to increase their lead to 4-0. Wellman notched his second of the night with a wrist shot from the right of Greenham at 11:32 of the second before Tomas Kundratek tallied a power-play strike with less than two minutes to play to give the Bears the big lead heading into the final break.

Alex Guptill cut Hershey’s advantage to four goals just shy of the eight minute mark of the third, but Dustin Gazley moved the final score to 5-1 with his 12th of the year with just under 10 minutes to play in regulation.

Greenham finished with 20 saves and fell to 10-7-2 on the year.

Binghamton travels to Lehigh Valley tomorrow night for a 7:05p.m. meeting with the Phantoms.
