Pacemaker Steel and Piping in Johnson City is planning on expanding its operation.

The company has received more than 220-thousand dollars in grants from the economic development council and is hoping to start building this summer. The Johnson City location will add 10-thousand square feet along wells avenue which will include a security-privacy fence. Five job positions will also open as a result of the expansion.

Vice President Jeff Ulrich said, "Its nice that we've got kind of central New York sort of covered. We've got Rochester we've got Utica and Binghamton locations. So central New York is our footprint that makes us very competitive throughout New York.

Pacemaker Steel's alternate locations in Utica and Rochester will also expand. The General Manager says he hopes to have the Johnson City location open before the end of the year.
