Irish Pub Holds Curling Event to Benefit Alzheimer's Association
McGirk's Irish Pub is putting a spin on the sport curling.
Curling is an event often part of the Winter Olympics where one team member slides a puck down an ice court while teammates help sweep it into certain areas for more points. The McGirk version of the sport uses frozen turkeys! It was part of their second annual Turkey Curling, all while benefiting the Alzheimer's Association.
McGirk Irish Pub Owner Tim Ward said, "That's near and dear to everyone's heart we found out. We've had a couple of events here at McGirk's where we've benefited the Alzheimer's Association and they've been higher attended than any other event that we've had here, as far as who the beneficiary was."
The turkeys weren't put to waste, the meat will be cooked and donated to local dog shelters.
