Senator Schumer Shares Thoughts on Drone Regulations

Posted:
Senator Charles Schumer weighs in on new regulations on small commercial drones.

The Federal Aviation Administration is proposing allowing drones weighing up to 55 pounds to fly within sight of their remote pilots during daylight hours.

The drones must stay below 500 feet in the air and fly less than 100 miles per hour.

According toSchumer there are ways the pilots themselves can limit where drones can go.

Schumer says, "And one other thing that I think has real possibility that they didn't put in their rules and it's called geo-fencing you can write into the program of the drone places it can't go, above 500ft, near airports, over the White House."

Schumer says that officials from the FAA are concerned that the mechanisms for geofencing have just started to come out, but schumer would like them to seriously consider adding it to the proposal.
