Binghamton Women's Basketball falls to New Hampshire 76-58

VESTAL, N.Y. – Elizabeth Belanger scored a game-high 25 points, powering New Hampshire (15-10, 7-6 AE) to a 76-58 win over Binghamton (4-22, 2-11 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at the Events Center. The game was aired on ESPN3 and marked the annual Coaches vs. Cancer game for the Bearcat program.

The Wildcats shot a blistering 64.6 percent from the floor, sinking 31 of their 48 field goal attempts. Joining Belanger in double figures was Kristin Anderson with 15 points and Kaylee Kilpatrick with 14 points.

New Hampshire shot 69 percent in the opening 20 minutes to take a 43-24 lead at the break. Belanger and Anderson each scored 12 points at the half while Kilpatrick hit all five of her shots and had 10 points.

In the opening 10 minutes of the second half, the Wildcats stretched their lead to 60-33. Carlie Pogue capped the run with a layup.

The Bearcats wouldn't give up, scoring seven straight points to pull with 60-40 with 8:57 left in regulation. Freshman point guard Jasmine Sina had six points during that spurt.

New Hampshire, however, answered by scoring the next five points to go up 65-40 with 6:30 left in regulation. Belanger had a three-point play during that stretch.

Senior forward Sherae Swinson finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds to record her seventh career double-double. Freshman guard Imani Watkins added 15 points while Sina finished with 11 points and five assists.

Binghamton has a week off before hosting Maine next Saturday at 2 p.m.
