Investigators Determine the Cause of Apartment Fire

Fire investigators determined the cause of Thursday night's blaze in Endicott that displaced 8 people from their homes.

Firefighters were called to the Nanticoke Apartments in Endicott around 7:40 last night. Officials say the fire started in the cellar of one building and spread to the second floor.

According to the Endicott Fire Department the apartments have electric baseboard heaters and curtains were hanging above the heater. It appears the curtains were pushed against the heater by a piece of furniture and started the fire. Officials say they rescued 3 people from the building under heavy smoke and fire conditions. The Red Cross was assisting those who were affected by the fire.
