Binghamton University is offering some high school students the chance to satisfy their scientific curiosities.

The university hosted The 3rd Annual New York State Scientific Olympiad competition. The Olympiad is dedicated to improving the quality of science education in grades 6 through 12, recognizing outstanding achievement in science and technology.

The event featured more than 14 schools showing off their skills: Chenango Forks, Chenango Valley, Ithaca and even as far as Corning.

Some experiments included bridge building and egg-car crash models.
Students are bringing on their skills to compete against other schools in the state.

Christof Grewer, Professor in Chemistry at BU said, "We are very excited to have so many young aspiring scientists who are coming to this event and practicing their skills in the sciences and we are very interested in helping their education of those standards."

Jillian Hornbeck, 11th Grade Student at Sidney said, "It was challenging but it was good to see the different types of sciences that we'll meet in college and later on and it was just a good experience."
