Expansion Plans for the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton

The Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton is set for an expansion.

The Doctor G. Clifford and Florence B. Decker Foundation awarded the club $225,000 for the construction of a 1,920 square foot addition on the second floor for multi-purpose rooms.

Executive Director Marybeth Smith says that the rooms will serve as a space for the kids to read and do their homework. Smith also states that the new addition to the building will hopefully allow for 50 more students to enjoy the boys and girls club.

"The children want to keep coming back. They don't just come one day, they come every single day, and there's more of them. And now that we're in neighborhoods where they live it's easier for them to go there and we've truly just outgrown," said Marybeth Smith, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club.

Officials hope the rooms will be open for the children by this April.
