Trial of State Senator Tom Libous will not be Dismissed
The trial of State Senator Tom Libous will continue after a federal judge denied a defense motion to dismiss the case at a pre-trial conference in White Plains Tuesday afternoon.
Libous is facing one count of providing a false statement to an FBI agent regarding him using his position to get his son a job at a law firm in Westchester. Libous says he is innocent of the charge. The judge also dismissed a defense motion to move the case to Albany. However, according to Libous' defense lawyer Paul der Ohanessian, the judge set a trial date for July 13th, that is after the legislative session to accommodate Libous' work schedule. Der Ohanessian also says the judge agreed not to read parts of the indictment regarding the nature of the investigation to the jury.
