The United Way is Offering Some Help During Tax Season
Tax season is upon us and one local organization is offering some help.
The United Way of Broome County in partnership with the AARP is offering free tax preparation services for those whose household income was under $60,000 or for those who are over 65. Last year officials say the Volunteer Tax Assistance program resulted in more than 1.8 million dollars in tax refunds being returned to the community.
"It's truly a significant benefit for the individual and it's a significant benefit for our total economy," said Alan Hertel, Executive Director at The United Way.
Appointments are being scheduled for February through April. For more information or to schedule an appointment you can call 1-800-901-2180.
