Vestal field hockey duo makes college picks

Posted:
Two members of the Vestal Golden Bears Field Hockey team have made their college choices official on Wednesday. Amanda Collins has signer her National Letter of Intent to play at Division-I UConn, while Kelsie Reese has signed hers to play at D-II Slippery Rock.

Both are relieved to have the college selection process over, calling it a weight lifted off their shoulders. They're excited for the chance to play the sport they love at the college level, but know that the road to this point wouldn't be possible without a lot of support along the way.

"All the coaching staff and all the players have pushed me more than I have been pushed anywhere else," Collins said. "I always have been someone who has been able to walk around and not really put a lot of effort in, but being surrounded by a lot of good players, I had to put in a lot of effort to become a better player."

"Just the teammates in general, they just you how everyone needs to step up to be a leader and just working together, and the bond you build, it's really helped," Reese said.

For Collins, she joins a UConn program that has won back-to-back National Championships.
