Attorney General Schneiderman Warns About Price Inflation In Face of Winter Storm
While New York could experience a historic winter storm, a New York attorney general is posting warnings on more than just the road conditions.
Price inflation during major weather events is prohibited by New York State law.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says that the General Business Law prohibits excessive increases in prices of essential goods and services such as food, generators and transportation during natural disasters.
He says his office will be vigilant in monitoring the potential price gouging before, during, and after winter storm Juno.
Schneiderman is urging New Yorkers to file complaints with his office if they believe consumer items or energy source prices are higher than they would normally be during regular business operations.
Complaints can be filed by calling Schneiderman's office at 800-771-7755.
