Trial delayed for man accused of sex trafficking

By Kerry Longobucco.
The trial for a Binghamton man accused of sex trafficking a teenage girl has been pushed back until next year.

Jury selection for the trial of Antonio Ballard, 25, was slated to begin Monday. A federal court clerk in Binghamton told Fox 40 HD News that there is no exact date scheduled yet.

Ballard, of Binghamton, is facing federal charges for sex trafficking a child, and forcing and inducing a child to engage in prostitution. The female victim was 15 at the time. The U.S. Attorney's Office alleges that these crimes took place from September to December in 2014.

Ballard was arrested last December after a two-month long investigation by the Vestal Police Department, Broome County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Police. Investigators targeted the exploitation of underage female victims being used for prostitution throughout Broome County.
