So. Tier to Present Potential $500 Million Plan in Albany

Tuesday is a big day in the Southern Tier's efforts to gain $500 million in state economic development money.

Representatives from the Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council, as well as those from two other Regional Councils, will present their proposals for Round V of the Regional Economic Development Competition.

From Tuesday through Thursday, all ten Regional Councils throughout the state will present. The Southern Tier Council will make it's presentation at 3:00pm Tuesday in Albany.

The Southern Tier is also one of seven upstate regions which will present it's plan for the Upstate Revitalization Initiative, a five-year, $500 million competition.

The Southern Tier's URI plan will focus on four areas: the Greater Binghamton Innovation Ecosystem Initiative; Southern Tier Food and Agriculture Initiative; Advanced Industries -- Transportation Products, Components and System Controls Initiative; and Promoting the Southern Tier's Innovative Culture Initiative.

The Southern Tier has been named a top performer in three of the previous four Economic Development Council competitions.
