Candles and signs are posted at the front gate of 145 Floral Avenue in Johnson City, a day after two children, ages 3 and 4, passed away in the fire. First Respondents arrived on the scene to two women on the front lawn of the property with severe burns. They had apparently jumped from the third story window due to the severe heat. The women are being treated at a burn center and are in critical condition.

Police on scene went into the house to rescue the children but could not get to them because of the intense heat. Fireman later made their way upstairs where they found the two perished in the fire.

Neighbors are still distraught at what happened Monday.

"I'm going to keep them in my hearts. I think this guy is a coward. If you are going to burn down a house with little kids in it and hurt their family. I basically think you are a straight up coward. I basically want to see the that. If there was a way I could go up there and see them, I would. I'm basically family to them guys and I know her because she used to live on the same address I used to live on," said Robert Fletcher, Neighbor who knew the family.

Police have arrested and charged 38 year old Dwight D. Burton on murder and arson charges, both in the first degree. He is being kept at the Broome County Jail and was arraigned. Police say gasoline was used to ignite the house, but have not commented on the motive or details of the crime.
