By Fox 40 Staff. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has upheld core provisions of the NY Safe Act.
Responding to the ruling, Governor Andrew Cuomo said the ruling shows that it is possible to have strong laws that keep our communities safe, while at the same time respecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners. The New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, a plaintiff in the case, applauded the part of the court's ruling which called the Safe Act's seven-round limit arbitrary and unconstitutional.
The State Rifle and Pistol Association says it plans to bring the case appeal the case to the Supreme Court.
