Two Arrested for Robbing Chinese Food Deliverymen

On Saturday, 10/17/2015, Binghamton Police arrested and charged two Binghamton men with two counts of Robbery in the First Degree. The charges stem from two separate robberies with the first occurring on 10/1/2015 and the second occurring on 10/16/2015. The two suspects are identified as 34 year old John A. Pierce and 24 year old Melinda A. Patak.

Two robberies of cash and cell phones took place in the area of 183 Prospect St. and 19 Mygatt St respectively. During both robberies, calls were made to the restaurants placing orders. When the victims reached their respective delivery locations, Pierce used a knife to threaten the victims and then stole their cash and cell phone.

During the investigation, information was developed that led to both Pierce and Patak as being suspects. Members of the Community Response Team were able to locate both Pierce and Patak leaving their residence on Mygatt Street. Investigators executed a search warrant at Pierce and Patak residence and recovered the knife believed to have been used during the robberies.

Investigators charged both Pierce and Patak with two counts of Robbery in the First Degree for their respective involvement in the robberies. Both suspects were arraigned in City Court and remanded to the custody of the Broome County Jail.
