Sindelars make DSGO a family weekend

Posted:
Horseheads native Joey Sindelar may not have won the Dick's Sporting Goods Open, but his final hole will be one he'll remember for a while. Sindelar sunk a 30-foot birdie putt for birdie on 18 to go 4-under for the weekend. The special part is, he left the read on that putt completely up to his caddie and oldest son Ryan. Joey said if Ryan's read had completely differed from his own, he would've overruled, but "he hit it right on the button."

For the Sindelars it was a fun weekend spent together and relatively stress free, despite the high pressure environment golf can present.

"Golf can get ugly. We call it getting under the influence of golf out there when things don't seem to be... when the bounces don't seem right or you're between clubs. All the 'wah wah wah,' cry baby stuff and Ry doesn't let that happen. He keeps it light and airy and I'm thrilled to have one of my sons on the bag," Joey Sindelar said.

Sindelar tied for 34th at (-4) for the weekend.
