State Leaders Reach Budget Agreement

It looks like New York State will have it's fifth straight on-time budget after the Governor and leaders of the Assembly and Senate announced they have reached an agreement.

The Governor has been demanding the Legislature agree to ethics and education reform before he would agree to a budget. There will be an increase in education aid and a new teacher evaluation system. Also legislators who are attorneys will have to disclose their outside clients.

"The main part of the budget is the education budget and we're still waiting for all the details to come through on that. That's probably one of the most important things to my constituents to see how much school aid will be coming to each district," said Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-123rd District).

Voting on the budget is expected to be complete Tuesday.
