An inmate at the Broome County jail was found dead on the floor of his cell on Wednesday afternoon.
The Sheriff's office says officers were making their count tour when they found 35-year-old Salladin Barton unresponsive. The staff began performing CPR before Barton was transported to Wilson Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say Barton was found in his cell just 20 minutes after he had returned from having visitors.
Barton has been in jail since June of 2013, for violating probation, grand larceny and robbery. An autopsy was performed yesterday but no cause of death has been determined.
