Binghamton Mayor Rich David Faces Lawsuit

Posted:
Mayor Rich David is facing a lawsuit.

Daisy Dawson filed the claim in Broome County court on Friday alleging that David abused his position as the Binghamton Mayor.

The suit claims that on January 1st at the bar Social on State, David's girlfriend Erica Aminalee hit her over the head with a glass for no apparent reason causing significant injuries.

The woman, who is an employee of WBNG, claims that David, a former employee of that station, approached her bosses and made false and malicious statements about her activity at the bar. The suit claims that David applied pressure on the station to have the woman stop cooperating with police regarding the ongoing assault and battery investigation against his girlfriend. The plaintiff states she has suffered emotional distress and mental anguish and has reservations about her future with the station.

In a written statement David says he called WBNG as a former employee and not as the mayor to report her unprofessional behavior at the bar. He says he did not ask WBNG to take or refrain from taking any action. David says he will respond to the allegations through the legal process.
