Gural Talks Additions to Tioga Downs' Application for Last NYS Casino License

The day before the state's Gaming Facility Location Board meets about the possibility of awarding a casino license to a Souther Tier location, Tioga Downs owner Jeff Gural says he's cautiously optimistic he will hear some good news tomorrow night.

Gural says he will improve the proposal, adding a restaurant, batting cages, and mini golf course. Gural says he respects the commission but would like the chance to talk about what it thought was lacking in his proposal.

He says he's not getting credit for what he has already put into the current racino, which he says would cost $70 million to build new, as well as a brand new $14 million dollar parking lot he just completed. Add to those his proposed casino and he feels the total project is equivalent to over $200 million.

"There are not a lot of things I can think of to add. Everything I can think of that would make us desirable I've already included. We've got a golf course, now a mini-golf course, indoor swimming pool, outdoor swimming pool, spa," said Gural.

Gural says he is worried another group may try to vie for a Southern Tier Casino License but repeated today he is now working with Traditions at the Glen in the Town of Union to find ways to make a proposed casino at Tioga Downs more attractive.
