NYSDOT's "Tow-Plow" Headed to Our Region

It can plow two lanes at once, it can't be passed and there's only one of them in the state and it's in our region.

Region nine of the department of transportation has the state's only tow plow for use for the next few weeks.

From front to back this tow plow is 70 feet long and can plow a 25 foot wide strip. The tow plow is set up on a hydraulic system allowing the tow blade to work in unison with with the front and side blades of the plow allowing it to covering two lanes of highway.

"It really is a very helpful tool to be able to make the road safer. It also enables the other plows and other plow operators to go to other locations where this vehicle is not working," said Dave Hamburg, Public Information Officer.

The tow plow will be stay in region 9 of New York state for the next few weeks before it's moved to another region.
