Binghamton Partnering With Company to Install Micro Cell Towers
A boost to revenue and a boost in cell service may be coming to Binghamton as soon as this summer.
The city of Binghamton will partner with Communication Management Associates Incorporated to install micro cell tower units through out the city. The units will be placed on city owned property and are usually placed on top of street lights and public buildings. CMA works with cell providers to market locations and finalize lease agreements. The city will receive 60% of the revenue resulting in no up front costs.
"This is an opportunity for the city of Binghamton to increase our revenues while at the same time putting in place a stronger technological infrastructure with regards to wireless technologies. said Mayor Rich David.
The micro towers can support cell service up to a 500 foot radius.
