A group of high school seniors got to create and run their own business thanks to BOCES New Visions Business Academy.

In September the students began their company 9 Roots, which sold beanie hats and nylon fleece blankets. They raised $150 to start the business and then liquidated the company in December.

Thursday the 9 students presented the business they created to family members and business representatives. Students who participated say now they're more prepared to enter the workforce.

High school senior Sam Kuchinski says, "I want to work for marketing of the fashion industry, so I learned about marketing. I think it will give me competitive edge in the future when I'm interviewing for jobs and internships. I can say, I 've markets a company before."

When students liquidated 9 Roots in December the company had a net profit of more than 3,000 dollars.
