Erik Columbia

Erik was born in New Baltimore, Michigan, but moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida when he was 14. At that time he joined the TV production department and became the Sports Director for the next four years of high school. Erik had a brief stint with Florida Gulf Coast University before transferring to Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he graduated with a BA in Radio and TV News. Erik gained an internship at Waterman Broadcasting in Ft. Myers, where he remained for 2 years in the sports department before joining FOX 40 in August of 2008. While in Ft. Myers, Erik helped cover many Spring Training camps including the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox. Erik finds discovering the story not commonly told is the most rewarding part of his job. “It is your voice that needs to be heard and we are here to serve as your podium.” Erik is the self proclaimed biggest Detroit Red Wings fan on the planet, and is always looking for more wingnuts.
