Wednesday marks the end of "Speed Week" in New York state, and the number of tickets issued has improved from last years statistics.
According to state police just over 10,000 tickets were issued between August 6th and August 12th , while more than 11,000 were issued for speeding in 2013. In total, about 22,000 tickets were issued this past week in New York state, about a 3,000 ticket improvement from last year.
The goal of "Speed Week" is to reduce speed-related crashes, which remains one of the leading causes of motor vehicle deaths in the state.
