A dozen FBI agents raided the Binghamton home of State Senator
Tom Libous and his wife, Frances, on Friday and took records and a computer belonging to Frances Libous.
This according to a report in the Albany Times Union. Frances Libous is a top officer of the State Workers' Compensation Board, with her current term ending in 2017.
According to the newspaper the raid was part of a joint effort between the FBI and State Attorney General's Office, which declined comment. In July Tom Libous was indicted for one count of Giving False Statements to an FBI Agent, and his son Matthew was indicted for filing false tax returns.
The next date in the proceedings against tom Libous is a pre-trial hearing on September 3rd. Tom Libous has maintained his innocence on the charge of Giving a False Statement to an FBI agent. A spokesperson for Libous' office today offered no comment on the report of Friday's raid.
