City Council Discusses Zoning in Downtown Binghamton

Downtown Binghamton could be seeing new building codes as the City Council plans to vote this week on a proposal for  zoning on the Main and Court Street corridor.

The City Council met Monday evening to discuss plans to set up regulations for future buildings in the city. Discussions varied from  setting building height requirements to adding lanes for bicyclists.  City Councilman Joe Mihalko says if the proposal is approved it will enhance downtown Binghamton.

Mihalko, Binghamton's 2nd district councilman, said, "We would have the information we could present to developers on how to put up buildings landscape. How we're going to do streets and bicycle paths in the future."

The city council says they will vote on the proposal this Wednesday.
