Spiedie Eating Contest at Tioga Downs

Tioga Downs and Major League Eating hosted an "all-you-can-eat" contest that holds a special place in the hearts of Southern Tier Residents.

The 10 minute chicken spiedie eating championship was won by number one ranked hot dog eater Joey Chestnut with a total of  almost 14 spiedies. Chestnut says he's honored to have been a part of this contest and help continue the tradition of spiedies in the Southern Tier.

Joey Chestnut, #1 ranked eater in the world says, "I get to travel around and go to happy places and meet great people. I'm so happy to be here. It's beautiful and i'm going to get to eat some awesome food."

Chestnut will take home $5,000 cash in addition to being named the first ever spiedie eating champion. This in preparation for Broome County's 30th annual Spiedie Fest and balloon rally next weekend.
