Whitney Point Downtown Celebration

Whitney Point residents gathered today to enjoy a day of food, games, and music.

The Downtown Celebration is a way to celebrate local businesses and restaurants in the area. The event lined Main Street for most of the afternoon. Organizers say they love seeing the community come together to have fun and to recognize the revitalization of the village.

David Downs, Mayor of Whitney Point tells Fox 40: "It feels great because that's what we're looking to do, that's the whole idea. Giving people a sense of pride in their community. Maybe this is a good place to be and a great place to visit if you're from around here."

Ryan Reynolds, Whitney Point Trustee says: "It's been great. All the businesses have really come together and some of them really aren't doing business--they're just participating in the community celebration. It's all been going pretty well and see see them come out for the community.

One of the new businesses to get a kick start at the event was a karate studio that was recruiting customers and looking to be one of many revitalized businesses in the village.
