National Weather Service Confirms Tornado in Madison County

The National Weather Service says it was an EF-2 tornado with estimated wind speeds of between 125 and 135 miles per hour which touched down in the town of Smithfield in Madison County on Tuesday.
The twister killed four people including a mother and her four-month old daughter. One home was lifted from the ground and carried 150-yards before it crashed into another house. A total of five buildings were destroyed in Madison County. The tornado is the second-deadliest in New York State history.
