Matt Cline, a Binghamton native and 2006 graduate of Seton Catholic Central has been named as the Director of Basketball Operations for Division I Eastern Michigan University. Cline was most recently an assistant coach at Division I Junior College Northwest Florida and previously team manager at Florida State and graduate assistant at South Alabama.
In his latest role Cline will be responsible for handling the team budget, booking travel and handling itineraries, as well as acting as a liaison between the players, coaches, and academic advisers and professors. While this position will prevent him from taking part in recruiting and coaching duties, he has the chance to observe and learn more about the business to eventually become an assistant coach at the D-I level.
Former Syracuse Orange assistant Rob Murphy, who spent seven years under Jim Boeheim, is currently the head coach at EMU.
