Contractor Arrested For Allegedly Taking Money For Unfinished Work
6/11/2014 (Updated 6:47:58 PM)Police have arrested a contractor from Nichols, saying he took over six thousand dollars for work he didn't complete.
Thirty one year old Theodore Cooper is charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree after police say he represented Cooper paving, took sixty two hundred dollars from a Town of Union resident for blacktop paving, but never finished the work.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office is warning consumers about Cooper Paving and others that simply stop and offer to provide blacktop services. According to the Sheriff's Office such people often prey on the elderly and advise residents to seek references from companies doing home repairs.
Cooper was sent to Broome County jail without bail.
