B-Mets lose fourth in a row 6-4 against the Rock Cats

BINGHAMTON, NY -- New Britain Rock Cats utility man Eddie Rosario smashed a two-run home run to highlight a three-hit game and hand the Binghamton Mets a 6-4 loss on Saturday night at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets have lost four straight and seven of their last eight games.

The Rock Cats opened the scoring against the B-Mets early. Starter Greg Peavey gave up a double to Sam Fuld to start the game and a single to Rosario. Nate Hanson drove Fuld home with a single to right field for the game's first run. A couple of batters later, Reynaldo Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly to center field that brought home Rosario for a 2-0 New Britain lead.

Binghamton got on the board in the second against Pat Dean. Jayce Boyd blasted a 2-0 pitch over the left-center field wall to cut the deficit to 2-1. It was his first home run since May 8th.

The B-Mets picked up the scoring in the fourth. After Boyd reached on a fielder's choice and Darrell Ceciliani singled to put two on with one out for Travis Taijeron. The righty knocked a double off the wall in right-center field to score both runners and give the B-Mets a 3-2 lead. After a ground out, Kyle Johnson laced a triple to left-center field to extend the Binghamton's advantage to 4-2.

New Britain came right back in the top of the fifth. Jairo Rodriguez singled to start things off. That brought up Rosario, who tied the game on a two-run blast off the scoreboard in right field to tie the game at four.

The Rock Cats took another two-run lead in the seventh against Jack Leathersich. Kennys Vargas worked a two-out walk and moved to second on a single by Reynaldo Rodriguez..The next batter, Brad Boyer, tripled to left field to make the score 6-4.

For the second night in a row, the B-Met could not touch the Rock Cats bullpen. Adrian Salcedo posted a 1-2/3 scoreless innings of relief and southpaw Ryan O'Rourke retired Matt Clark, the only batter he faced, to end the seventh. Mark Hamburger worked around a lead off walk in a scoreless eighth and stepped around a two-out walk in a blank ninth for his first save of the season.

Salcedo (1-6) earned his first win of the season. Leathersich (1-2) allowed two-runs on four hits over 2-1/3 innings, matching his longest outing of the season.

Dean surrendered four runs on seven hits over five innings of work in the no-decision. Peavey was tagged for four runs on nine hits over 4-2/3 innings of work.

The B-Mets (31-29) wrap up their series with New Britain on Sunday at 1:05 PM. RHP Tyler Pill takes the mound against LHP Taylor Rogers.
