Spartans Prepare for (More) Glory

In recent memory there has not been a shortage of winning for the Maine-Endwell Spartans.  Ten Section IV Titles last school year, and another several this year.  The football team owns three straight State Titles, and now the baseball and softball teams are looking for their own hardware on the state's biggest stage.

For Head Coach Gary Crooks and the Spartans Baseball Team, Friday's win over Vestal was their second straight sectional finals win over the Golden Bears and seventh in a row.  As they prepare for Saturday's quarterfinal in either Section One against Rye of Section Nine against Wallkill, the approach and mentality is the same as it's been all year: swing the bats with runners on, and let the pitching take care of itself.

Meanwhile, for Head Coach Matt Raleigh and the Spartans Softball Team, Saturday's win made it three straight Section IV Titles.  While, unlike the baseball team who's season started slow, the softball program has been strong and dominant all season long.  As the Spartans prepare for Friday's matchup against Pearl River, a game which was postponed Thursday due to rain, they know that they're peaking at the right time.
