It's All Greek To Me

When in Vestal, do as the Greeks do--that's the saying, right? People of all heritages are invited to be Greek for a day at the 41st annual Grecian Festival.

The four day festival kicked off Thursday afternoon and goes until Sunday--rain or shine--at the Greek Orthodox Church of Annunciation on O'hara Road in Vestal.

The festival is the church's largest fundraiser of the year. Locals can enjoy a variety of greek foods, beer, music and dancers--and there's one delicacy that seems to be a fan favorite year after year..

"The honeypuffs are definitely the best part start out with a gyro or however you pronounce it but always end with the honeypuffs. Put a little  ," cinnamon on top and they're to die for," said Vestal resident Erin Hopkins.

"I can tell that everybody loves them. It's so sweet with the honey. If you eat honey you live longer," said Steve Anastos the Festival Chairman.

Organizers say that this festival is important when it comes to passing down Greek traditions to future generations.
