Tenney and Hanna: Winner Takes All

The congressional race is heating up, with challenger Claudia Tenney saying in Vestal today that incumbent Richard Hanna is running a smear campaign and running away from a challenge to debate her. Hanna responding in Binghamton late this afternoon, admitting he won't debate his challenger because, he says, she lies about him and his record.

"Richard is willing to debate his liberal, Democratic, male opponents but he refuses to debate a conservative woman who's running against him in a primary where Republican values are really going to be showcased in this situation," said Tenney.

"It's a shame that we can't do something. But I refuse to debate somebody who doesn't even speak correctly about my record," said Hanna.

Tenney and Hanna, a two-term incumbent, are vying for the seat representing New York's 22nd district. Since there are no democratic candidates running, this year's republican primary is a "winner takes  all" race.
