Police Believe Speed, Alcohol Could Have Factored in Fatal Crash

A Saturday evening car crash in Endicott has claimed the life of an Endicott man and left a woman with life-threatening injuries
and police say speed and alcohol may have been factors.
Robert Norris of Route 26 in Endicott was pronounced dead at a local hospital after crashing his car into a NYSEG utility poll on Route 26. his passenger Penny Barton of Maine was admitted for her injuries.
The accident took place around 5:00 saturday afternoon. Both Norris and Barton were entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. Route 26 was closed until about midnight Saturday as police and NYSEG crews completed their work. The investigation is ongoing.
