Vestal Students Headed to National NetSci Conference
5/28/2014 (Updated 10:56:31 PM)They're headed to Berkeley: a group of students from Vestal High School will attend a national conference on a new and emerging field-- called "Network Science."
NetSci, as it's called for short, uses the power of networking --with colleagues and researchers, and multiple computers, to research various fields of study: in this case, the relationships among human genes, and disease:
Cherly Limer, a Senior at Vestal High said, "There had already been a study that connected diseases based on their genes, and we decided to compare that, how diseases are linked to genes based on their symptoms. and we made a network comparing how they are connected, and how they work together."
The group of Vestal students are among the few high school students invited to attend the conference.
It takes place in early June.
