Cancer Doesn't Sleep, And Neither Will These Walkers

Hundreds of area locals came out in support of cancer survivors and those fighting cancer at Western Broome County's 5th annual Relay For Life.

Participants have been walking since 2 this afternoon, and will continue through Saturday night until 6 Sunday morning. Organizers and survivors say that they walk through the night because cancer doesn't sleep--and they won't either until they've done everything they can to find a cure.

"It's a support for them. They love what the American Cancer Society does. They support it. And this is their way of fighting back, so more people don't have to go through what they went through," sad Mallory Evans, specialist for Relay for Life.

"People are constantly battling this and fighting for me and for everybody else. That's, it's a great thing to know that so many people are fighting this fight," said Trisha O'neill, cancer survivor.

All funds raised from today's event go to benefit the American Cancer Society's cancer research.
