New York Senate Passes MMA Legislation --Again

While boosters say a casino in this area would be a big boost to the economy-- state-wide, the same argument is being made about allowing mixed martial arts matches in New York:

Because it is currently illegal anywhere in New York , local champ Jon Bones Jones--of Endicott is forced to fight--and gain national fame-- elsewhere.

But Tuesday,  the New York State Senate passed legislation that would allow mixed martial arts and other martial arts sports in New York State.

But such efforts to legalize MMA have stalled, and died a number of times before.

Although it has been passed in the Senate, multiple times,  it now goes on to the Assembly-- where its fate remains very uncertain.
