Local Law Enforcement Wraps Up Police Week

And anyone who visited the Oakdale mall had a special opportunity to see different police displays and even talk to local policeman for the areas final day of police week.
 
Departments from all over the Southern Tier set up tables and talked to families about their daily duties. Broome County Sheriffs say they love being able to interact with families in a setting like this, that is a little more relaxed than their day to day patrols.

"That's what the good thing is. Being with the kids. Getting them to know that we're human beings and we're here for them, not to be afraid of us. Just to talk to the kids, that's what it's all about," said Lieutenant Tim Hill, Broome County Sheriff.

Today's police week exhibitions also included the Endicott Bomb squad, a K-9 demonstration, and a tribute to fallen Johnson City Police Officer D.W. Smith.
