Mud Madness at 5K Run

Where can you voluntarily run through mud, crawl through tunnels, and jump over fire? The very first Mud Mountain Rock and Run 5k.

Dozens of runners prepared to run in several heats of the race which tested physical and mental endurance. The event, held at Broome-Tioga Sports in Lisle, with all proceeds from the event going to benefit the Family Enrichment Network. And although the obstacles were though participants say supporting a good cause was worth it.

"I hope it's terrific. It looks like a load of fun. I'm sad I can't be out there running myself and I hope they're having a great time. Everybody's got a great attitude. I love the costumes people are in. The shirts are terrific. Look's like they're having fun," said Kelly Weiss, Director of Special Events.

With the success of the Mud Mountain Rock and Run, organizers say they can't wait to make the event better and even muddier for next year.
