Bracchi earns first career Rookie of the Week Honors

VESTAL, N.Y. – Freshman outfielder Gabby Bracchi has been named the America East Softball Rookie of the Week for May 6. It marks the first time in her career that she has earned the conference’s weekly accolade.

Bracchi hit a team-best .625 (5-for-8) in the Bearcats’ series against Stony Brook. She drove in five runs and finished with a .727 on-base percentage and .875 slugging percentage. In the final game of the series, she belted a pair of doubles and drove in a career-high three runs.

“Gabby has been doing a great job all season,” head coach Michelle Burrell said. “She is a hard worker and has made improvements that have helped her be really consistent at the plate. She has also come up with big plays in the outfield.

Binghamton (21-23) is the No. 3 seed in the upcoming America East Tournament and will face No. 2 Albany at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The tournament is being hosted by top-seeded Stony Brook.
