5/1/2014 (Updated 5/2/2014 10:19:00 AM)The governor's effort to eliminate gun violence is sending more than three-hundred thousand dollars to Broome County.
In all, law enforcement in 17 counties are being given a total of 13.2 million dollars to reduce shootings and firearms-related homicides.
Broome County Sheriff David Harder says the $384,000 Broome is getting will help with the basics of law enforcement:
"Well it helps some because it covers the overtime, some of the payroll expenses. And that's a boost right in itself," said Broome County sheriff David Harder.
The money is contained in the 'GIVE' program--with 'GIVE' standing for Gun Involved Violence Elimination.
