Greene Police Chief Suspended

Mum's the word in the town of Greene following the suspension of its police chief, Steve Dutcher, for unspecified reasons.

Greene mayor Phil Brown will confirm only that Dutcher was suspended four weeks ago by a unanimous vote of the town board.

The mayor does indicate that that's not the end of the matter, telling Fox 40 News that "there is an investigation going on."

Mayor Brown also will not say if the suspension was related to any incidents while the chief was on duty.

Greene's police department has one full time officer--the chief, as well as several part timers.

Sgt. Donnie Brown is filling the chief's position for the time being.
