Vestal Looking to Fund Chugnut Trail Extension

There will be more of a trail to exercise along--if Vestal grant writers can get the funding to add 3.2 miles to the Chugnut Trail:

The plan is to extend the path from Vestal avenue, all the way to Glendale Park--

It would run parallel to an extended Vestal Rail Trail, running from Vestal Avenue to Castle Gardens.

Currently, the Chugnut Trail runs less than a mile from Riverview Drive to Vestal Avenue..

The extension would be, shall we say, a very welcomed addition:

Beth Putrino, Vestal's grant writer, said,  "Well, Broome County has a 14 mile trail plan for the whole area, and we'd like to do our part to connect over to the rail trail in Vestal, and hiking clubs, and biking clubs and  running clubs are very excited about the project, as far as health and fitness, it's wonderful for the children of Broome County, and the Village of Endicott, and I see a lot of positives by having this done."

Most of the funding would be federal, with few local tax dollars being spent.
