Siena Poll Shows Cuomo Could Lose Half his Lead in a 3-Way Race
4/22/2014 (Updated 11:00:15 PM)Polls have been showing Governor Cuomo far ahead of any single possible challenger in a re-election bid for the governorship--
But now, a Siena poll is showing that the large lead-- 30 points worth-- that Governor Cuomo has over Republican Rob Astorino, could be shaved by 15 points --in a three-way gubernatorial contest that would include a Working Families Party candidate who would be perceived as more liberal and progressive than Cuomo.
And this applied to any such candidate, without anyone in the poll being specifically mentioned.
According to the pollsters, the support for the Sorking Families Party candidate would come from more than 30 percent of Democrats, liberals, union households, New York City and black voters who consider Cuomo more of a moderate than a liberal:
